Hi! Thanks for taking my call from China! Bet you didn’t know that the M&L website and all the shows are banned in China for being morally subversive material. It actually takes a bit of work to get passed the firewalls that block you! I posted on your Facebook what the M&L site looks like in China with Chinese ads. Hope you get paid as I clicked on them.
Since one should never correct the RG, here are a couple fun facts:
1. The actual title for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra song you always play is “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24”. The piece describes a lone cello player playing a forgotten Christmas carol in war-torn Sarajevo. It is third (1,300,000 downloads) on the list of all-time best-selling Christmas/holiday digital singles in SoundScan history.
2. Jay Livingston, writer of “Silver Bells” also wrote the themes to “Bonanza” and “Mr Ed.” as well as “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)”.
Some months ago I was the one that posted pictures of “Central Perk”, a coffee house in Singapore based on the one from “Friends”. Just want you to know I take you with me everywhere in the world I go!
Thanks for another good show M&L. I have not got to listen for a while. I been busy with work and my sister that had cancer. Your show is bitter sweet for me, just because of the family thing. If there anybody that can cheer me up, it is you two. Merry Christmas to you both. I hope to listen live sometime soon. Oh yea, Happy New Year too!
Lynda… it sounded like you are not a fan of the song white Christmas when Mark did the countdown. Just wondering if you like the movie White Christmas? It is a yearly tradition for me and my family to watch White Christmas… Just love it! And I I want to thank Mark for introducing me to the movie holiday inn… I had never heard of that movie and I love that one too! Wishing you and the whole family a very merry Christmas!
Mark, i have to second the recommendation for Baby Driver from the top 10 movies list. The entire movie is like a really fun music video, essentially all scenes of the movie are choreographed to music in a unique and interesting manner. Not to mention some of the best car chases (which are also synced to music, obviously) and a great cast. That movie was just super fun! Also, Happy Holidickandballs!
It’s because of your old show that I watched Love Actually for the first time. It’s the perfect Christmas movie to watch with your spouse or girlfriend. It has EVERYTHING! That put me in the mood for some christmas lovin!! ha ha Santa’s COMING to town baby!
Lynda, I think it is hilarious you are ashamed of the time frame of your day. Don’t worry. I am 33 years old and on any given day, I am in bed by 8:30 – 9:00 the latest! I also get up during the week at 4 am for work. If I know I am going to go out, I need to take a nap so I am able to stay awake later than 9 o’clock! After 3 years this is my new normal! Merry Christmas to all the Thompsons!
