I’d like to make a request for a mini Cool Stories in Music. Andy Williams. I grew up listening to his music and loved it. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized that none of the songs I knew were HIS. I just realized (during this show) that the “Never Can Say Goodbye” from the Jackson Five was not his either. Did he do ANY of his own music? I feel so ripped off!
Hi guys! Loved your Motown podcast show so much I listened to it again while in my hotel room on a layover in Iceland! Dancing and singing and realizing how ingrained these songs are in my mind knowing most of the words from way back growing up! Thanks so much and… love you guys!
First, I want to commend Lynda on whatever non-verbal hint she got across to Mark to shut up at the top of the show when he said they were rushed for time. We now know he was clearly about to divulge that the Bramey nuptials were the next day. Best wishes to the happy couple!!
And now, about the stupid Motown list…how the bejezus did that list not include Otis Redding?!?! Hello – Dock on the Bay, Grandmas Hands, Try a Little Tenderness!!! Or Bill Withers?! Hello – Lovely Day, Lean on Me, Ain’t No Sunshine!!! The list gets no respect from me! You hear that?! R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Aretha Franklin for crying out loud. Another massive omission from the sad, stupid list.
Hello Mark & Lynda, I’m a listener from way, way, way back. Like you two I have been married 36 years to the love of my life. We meet when I was 12 and he was 14 – we just celebrated our anniversary on Sept 25th. We are empty nesters and I love spending time with my kids and their/my new extended family. I have an 11yr old granddaughter and an 8yr old step granddaughter. They are the very best thing in the world – cant wait for you two to experience my same joy.
I love listening to your show and love your banter. We live our lives with laughter and love (booze/sex) like yours.
We are coming to see the Panthers (my team because of you Mark) kick Seattle’s ass Thanksgiving weekend. Maybe we will see you there?
Thanks for all the years, tears and joy. Really just wanted to say Hi.
Hey Mark and Lynda. Since you will be gone for 2 weeks, I should put my birthday chicken in now, if you can squeeze me in… my birthday is October 6th and I am turning 51! Cant wait for October Halloween shows.. Hope you had a great time in Cali! Love you guys. 🙂
Well I am really going to miss you next week! So I guess I will put a birthday chicken request in now… 🙁 I will be 51 on October 6th.. I would love it if you can squeeze me in since there will be two weeks of birthdays! Hope you had a great time in Cali!! Keep up the great work you too and cant wait for Halloween shows in October!! BOO.
My dearest Mark, I am listener number 17 and I love you very much. And I don’t even argue that you are (or aren’t) the Radio God…but…but…no fucking Aretha on that Motown list?!?!?!? And you didn’t mention her either?!?! Oh the SHAME!!!
She may come to haunt your ass! And the dumbfuck who wrote that list too!
Love you too Skeeter,
Gayle from Oregon Wine Country

Rubberband Man
Smokey Robinson- Tears of a Clown
– Cruisin
Martha and the Vandellas- Nowhere to Run
