Mark, yesterday on February 1st it was 14 years ago when Janet Jackson exposed her nipple at on the Super Bowl halftime show, please take a couple of minutes and talk about how that changed things forever for you as a radio entertainer.
Lynda please have Mark comment on this, it is important and timely, with Justin Timberlake performing at the Super Bowl for the first time since that incident and the issues everybody faces with censorship going on today.
I am an avid fan of the Philadelphia teams. Yes, Philly fans are known to be rough on everyone, even their own. If you read this on air, the Super Bowl will be over and the Eagles will have upset the Patriots (feel free to edit here if necessary). Did you know that many Philadelphia fans contributed to charities in Minnesota after the playoff game to “offset” the nasty stuff that a few of the fans did? It’s always a few – and it happens everywhere, but they get all the publicity. One of the Eagles players donated his full 2017 Salary to charities in his home State, and another had “underdog T-shirts made and is donating all profits to the Philadelphia public schools. We’re not ALL bad…
Years ago an artist walked into a recording studio and left a tape for an exec who promptly threw it in the trash. A secretary saw the tape with a picture of a handsome guy on it and pulled it out of the trash and took it home. She listened to the tape and told the exec he needed to sign this guy a.s.a.p.
Years later this artist runs into a guitar player who was playing for Bowie, who was notorious for under paying his players. He offered the guitar player his couch to sleep on till a better gig came along. At some point the artist comes home and offers his guest some time he has left at the studio. The result was Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughn and the earlier artist was Jackson Browne.
I can be kind of a knucklehead and hope I didn’t get this from Mark. If not, it could be a good little “Cool Stories”.
Hey yāall! I absolutely love the song the bridge over troubled waters⦠When I was a senior in high school our English teacher had a study several Simon and Garfunkel songs because they are very metaphorical. This English teacher gave me a huge appreciation for their music and a healthy love for lyrics In general⦠Some people are music people some people are lyrics⦠I am lyrical. Love and hugs to ass hat Mark, the lovely Lynda, Bramy, Meleni, Katie, Danny, Red and Luna tuna
Mark I have a question for you. When you talked about the Vikings fans dumping their Super Bowl tickets, you said that tickets they bought for $1000.00 they were dumping them for $3850.00. Did you mean $380.50? If not then that is a hell of good dump gaining $2850.00 for a $1000.00 ticket. Or did you mean 10,000.00 for one ticket? I have heard that there are tickets this high for the Super Bowl, but that is just fucking crazy money for one game!!
Mark, you are not burning content, these episodes are up on the website for about 2 months. I missed your 20 minutes last week the day you posted it but just listened to it a couple of days later. I think your brain may be stuck in broadcast mode where you if you miss it, it’s gone. But that’s understandable, you were in broadcast radio for a zillion years.
I want to say that Mark is correct with the pronunciation of Cuba Gooding Jr. His dad named him after the country which is pronounced as mark pronounces it. I should know how it’s pronounced since I was born in CUBA.
PS: Been listening to M&B since beginning along with all the offshoots. Love you guys!!!
I’d just like to say thank you for the mini cool stories on Neil Diamond! I have been a huge fan of Neil Diamond since I was 12. My husband and I just took our daughter to his concert this last August in Portland, Oregon and he was fabulous! Thanks again!!
