Lil Nas X did this song and said it was country. Country radio would not play it saying it did not belong in the country genre. Radio Jock Bobby Bones made it a mission to get this song air play, attempting to get it charted, he was talking it up and playing it on his syndicated “the Bobby Bones show”. It caught the attention of Billy Ray and Keith Urban and the rest is history!
