Hi RG and the lovely, lively, smart Lynda,
Listening to comments, I wanted to chime in. If you could pass my message to Jenny (single mom) and John (with high blood pressure). Jenny, who is a new empty nester, I was a single mom for 17 years when I my daughter went off to college. It was tough but I used the time to work on me. Exercise or Zumba dance classes at the gym, walks after work when it was still light out, reach out to old friends that you may have drifted away from while raising your son, (I ended up marrying my high school sweetheart this way). It will get better. Work on projects around your home that you have put off. It is a bigger challenge when you are a single parent. But you will begin to thrive.
And to John who has been told that he has high blood pressure, call your county public health department. Public Health can guide you to clinics, doctors who only charge what you can pay or who take some patients without charging them. There are services out there. It seems daunting to try to find them, but your county public heath knows what is available in your area. Your taxes pay for your county’s public heath department. Use it. Your wife doesn’t need to find out after you have a stroke and need her for 24 hour a day care, that you knew and didn’t tell her or help yourself. (I’m a registered nurse and licensed public health nurse in California). Don’t be afraid, ask for help.
Thank you both for all you do to keep our old M&B radio community together. I look forward to hearing what is new with you both every week.
Hi guys! Did you see this video of a “flash mob” in Haarlem, Netherlands, playing Neil Young’s Keep On Rocking in The Free World? It’s pretty cool! Lovin…. you!
I see many comments about the gentleman with high blood pressure. I work in the medical history. He can go to ER & they have to see him without payment. He can then make payments on his bill. Also there are programs for low income people that most of the companies who make medications have if their medications are expensive. All you do is go directly to the medication company’s website. They usually have an option to click on that says something like “patient assistance” & you can fill out an application to get free medication. My elderly mom is only on Medicare with no prescription coverage. I applied for her heart medicine & she gets it free. Also, if he can manage to pay for a doctors visit many times they have free samples. I also get some of my mom’s meds that way. Good luck to you sir. And TELL YOUR WIFE!!!! 😊😊
There are free clinics in many cities and I would guess that there are also Medi_Cal like programs in many states, so that gentleman really does need to do some research and take care of himself. No excuse. I wish him the best and hope he does tell his wife. A big part of taking care of yourself is also having someone to support you and be a second pair of ears in the doctors office on occasion. We all hear information differently and she may have additional questions that could help guide his care.
Hi yall, for the man with high blood pressure, there are free clinics all over, dont let this go! And your both right, he must tell his wife!! If you can’t afford medical insurance, there is help you can get. Love ya,ll
I had correctly guessed the #1 one hit wonder as “Take on me”. I was really surprised that it was unfamiliar to Lynda. Here in southern California, it gets a lot of radio play on stations such as KOST and KRTH.
Love your podcast and enjoy still hearing your voices and family stories. I was a latecomer to the Mark and Brian show, but my ex husband introduced me to it and I was hooked.
Lynda, I am happy to hear you continue to be cancer free. I was on the way to the airport the morning M&B announced your diagnosis and I was heartbroken for you. Stay well!
On apple/iTunes there is a speed control left side, just below the volume bar, look for 1/2x, 1x, 1 1/2 x or 2x. Tap it til it says 1x. Hope that helps!
Hello there Lynda and RG,
I understand October is breast cancer awareness month but I have to say every month should be about your health and how healthy are you month, On September 21st I had a mild heart attack and even though I was always aware of my family history and on top of my blood pressure and ate fairly healthy I was not prepared to hear the Drs tell me that they found a 99% blockage ( all from my genetics) in what they call the Widow maker artery this has rocked my world and life as I know it. I literally could have lost my life 11 days before my 48th birthday. Leaving behind my husband of 27years my 2 children and 3 grand babies ( I’ll share till you get one )
Now even more when you say Or have said know your body and treat it well rings so much louder. So yes ladies and men check your boobies but also know your family history and know your body and don’t every shy away from having even the littlest pain or lump checked out.

And go and be healthy humans
I love you both all the time but you told someone to make sure they went and get blood pressure medication well that’s a great idea but there are natural ways to deal with it I had high blood pressure and my wife put me on a diet that helped me to drop my blood pressure .great show you two always
