Hey Mark,
I’m not sure that I’ll hit send on this because it’s quite personal to me but I have finally chosen to sit down and write to you about the impact you had on someone very special to me – my brother Tom. Tom was 13 years older than me and turned me on to M&B from day one in 1987. My brother and I were very close and when he and his wife moved to Nor. Cal. in 1992, I committed to sending him recorded cassette tapes of your show for YEARS. I woke up early so that I could get as much on tape as I could each day before leaving for work and then flip the cassette before I left so that he’d have maximum show time. I’d then pack them in shoe boxes and ship them off for his entertainment. Thank goodness for syndication! It was worth every sleepless morning and all of the postage to make him happy. He missed the show and this was the only way he could listen – so we made it happen. Tom was a loner with anxiety and depression. He was more importantly one of the best humans on the planet. He LOVED your show, he loved music and had thousands of albums and cds that he’d blast every Friday night for music night. He was a master at trivia, loved animals more than humans, and always supported his baby sister when he could. Damn, he would’ve loved your podcasts!
I seriously went to every event that I could just to get memorabilia to give to him. The t-shirts, books, cd’s, whatever! I remember one event specifically where I had to drive from Long Beach after work to Torrance to a Tower Records for something that you guys signed. It was raining. I was in my work wear, soaked, stood in line for who knows how long and when I got to you guys, I asked for a photo. You complied. Both of you were on either side of me and Brian whispered in my ear, “Is that a Donna Karen?” speaking of my suit (insert eye roll). Anyway, I still have the photo and I laugh every time I see it remembering when I told Tom about the experience and how it cracked him up.
Tom took his life in 2016. The pain had gotten to be too much. I am sure that you hear this often, but I am telling you this because I know that you were a big part of his life and you kept him laughing during the struggles that he faced. I want you to know that “what you do” and have done, even when it was hard for you made a terrific impact on someone who deserved that kind of joy but couldn’t find it for himself.
A few months ago I retired after 30 years in public education. My husband and I listen to you while driving from Long Beach to Palm Desert nearly every weekend. I am happy that you continue your passion and we get to enjoy the entertainment. While driving down the 10 freeway listening to you I think of my big brother and the memories that I get to carry because of you. Thank you, RG.
Now go pet Walker and think about what you’ve done. Say “hey” to the family.
Hi Mark (and Eleni and Bob),
I’m on TikTok and Delilah pops up on my FYP!!! Please get her on the show! And if you do, PLEASE play her the Delyle sketch. I would love to hear her reaction. Her TikTok is @radio.delilah Love to Lynda and Walker,
Hey RG! Long time listener from the KLOS Mark & Brian days here!
Knowing your affinity to hearing the sound of a dog chewing ice, I have a brief recording of one of my goats chewing some hay! Might not get the same “rise” out of you, but could be interesting enough.
Please let me know if you are interested and I can send you the audio clip.
Thanks and keep up the great work…hearing your voice each week really does make an impact!
Hey big daddy, just want to thank you for the new music for freshest, greatest, latest. You probably don’t know this, or maybe you do, but the music you chose for the segment us to be the lead in music for the channel 7 ABC news in Los Angeles back in the early to mid 80s. every time I hear that sound it immediately draws me back to my childhood days. Thanks.
Here is the punch line to the joke
St Peter, standing guard, asks them to share their contributions with him. Dolly Parton lifts her shirt and shows him her boobs. Then Princess Diana takes a cup, pees in it, and hands it to St Peter. St Peter asks them to hold on for a moment and then walks away. When he returns, he lets Princess Diana in but refuses entry to Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton is shocked and asks why she can’t come in. St Peter replies, “Sorry, but a royal flush beats a pair.”
Hey RG
Have you thought about doing a listener Auction for your awesome paintings? You could put a small story attached to each and proceeds go your charity. Anywho just a thought!
Hey to Goober!
I think I was the original listener that asked about Prof. Fraknoi and you read my comment few weeks ago. Thank you for getting him on the show, I could listen to him talk about the stars all day.
Hey RG!
Love your show. My most favorite podcast. I always listen when I’m driving and I find myself smiling, laughing, and reminiscing. I was wondering if the band Ambrosia could someday be a topic of Cool Stories in Music. I grew up in San Pedro (pronounced Pee-dro) CA, and I believe they performed at my junior high school around 1973. The next time I saw them perform was in Pasadena, January 3, 2020, just before the Covid lockdown. They were great and this old bitch remembered all the lyrics…and so did they! Thank you for What You Do!

Hey R.G.
You mentioned putting an Easter Egg in your Munster’s painting….. so here’s a piece of useless triva for ya….
That term originated during the filming of The Rocky Horror Picture Show…. They had an Easter Egg hunt on the set in which not all the eggs where found…. if look very carefully while viewing the movie some of those eggs can be seen tucked away various scenes.
Lovin’ you since the days of The Lucky Butt!
Keep on doin’ “What You Do.”
❤️👍🏻
Hey Mark. I’m a little late with this but wanted to tell you how much I loved the Levi Stubbs Cool Music.
You took me back to a time when all I listened to was Motown and great memories. The music was phenomenal.

Devil in Disguise about John Wayne Gacey is out now. Interviews with him. What an enormous ego this creep had. Definitely worth watching!
