Hi Mark I listen from just outside Dundee, Scotland every Friday afternoon when it drops . I was born here but moved to santa monica in 1973 aged 14. Loved growing up in socal in the 70’s . Would listen to you and Brian every day from the beginning until I left to go home to Scotland in 1994. Big earthquake and Rodney king riots etc . made our mind up to move back to Scotland to bring up our 5 year old son here . Just reconnected a few years ago when I heard you and Linda and I fucking love hearing you again . Great show , you make me chuckle out loud every week 🤣 hootie hoo p.s. Larry is an idiot for not liking Kashmir…..and people who say pacific instead of specific grinds my gears
Mark, I found it sadly ironic that you gave up acting because someone was rude to you, because your whole brand is being rude and that’s what your fans love about you. Like the time you told a caller: “I don’t remember and I threw it out” or when you call your listeners “stupid replaceable listeners” but and my all-time favorite moment was after M&B ended, you made a video telling to your loyal fans “Mark and Brian is over, eat my balls” I know you were just kidding but more than a few of your fans didn’t get it in fact they never got over it. My point is, you shouldn’t have given up acting just because one person was rude to you, you should have just leaned into it and laughed it off like you have done so many times over the years when you do it to a caller/listener. To this day whenever my wife and I are out in public and someone is rude to me, my wife says to me: “you just got Mark Thompsoned” and we both have a good laugh, and I get over it.
YO RG!
I realize you were working at a Top 40 station between 1974 and 1977, but here is a brief list of some of the bigger bands who HAD their debut albums in that time dead zone time period (including Foreigner), that your competitors were probably playing 🙂
1974: Kiss, Rush, Bad Company, AC/DC (in Australia), Judas Priest, Kansas, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, New York Dolls, Blondie (formed in 1974)
1975: Journey, Ted Nugent, Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, The Dictators, Patti Smith
1976: Ramones, Boston, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Heart, The Modern Lovers, AC/DC (High Voltage, international debut)
1977: The Clash, Foreigner, Talking Heads, Sex Pistols
