Greetings from California. During guess the year I heard Mark say ” close but no cigar”. I am not to familiar with that saying. So I looked it up. When Mark was a Lad they used to give away cigars at the local carnivals. If you missed the target they would say close but no cigar. That was a promotion that went on during the 1920’s. Well, now we all know he got that saying from his carnival days.
Amazon and iTunes (streaming media services) have made the department store irrelevant. Personally, I work in a mall, but hate going to one… For malls to survive, they will have to think differently. Gone are the days of 2 anchor tenants (think Sears/JC Penny/Macy’s) with small stores benefiting from their presence. To survive, malls have to become entertainment centers with movie theaters, gaming parlors, and restaurants as the primary draw and the shopping is almost secondary.
Yes, Mark and Lynda . . . . as probably your only fan of the show that is also a soccer guy; Neymar, Ronaldo and Messi are all world famous soccer players in Europe (Paris Saint-Germain in France, Juventus in Italy and FC Barcelona in Spain respectively).
(they can afford to spend that kind of money on sports figures there, ’cause soccer is their biggest sport . . . and they have no baseball, football or basketball to compete with)
Lynda and future Hall of fame member Mark, great show today as usual, I am ready to place My vote, I now have 18 people that will be voting too.
How did Amy and Katie do with the earthquakes? Really would love to hear from them.
Thanks, love you guys…..especially Red.
Mark, you have praised movies like hereditary and get out for their being scary, but called the latest annabelle a piece of crap. I saw both movies and although hereditary was an interesting movie it was far from scary or terrifying. And to me GET OUT was boring as hell. I’ve enjoyed the conjuring movies and the annabelle series so far. I haven’t seen the lastest annabelle yet but I’ve only heard good things. Looking forward to seeing it.
I forgot to mention that when I had to take my Itzy girl to the same place in June that I cooked her a home breakfast of bacon and eggs, so much better than garbage McDonaldās plastic burgers. Also we lost our golden lab āGoldieā a year ago naturally, lost our whole pack of thirteen years and younger in 14 months. We have one left that came to us from a job I was doing in the middle of nowhere 5 yrs ago āChewyā a little apple head chihuahua that loves to bark at 5:30 am on the weekends for no fucken reason aside from obviously just wanting to wake me up since heās already up and heās so lost without his pack. Itās been over a month since his best girl Itzy left and he still has had almost no appetite. Heās just lost and confused what happened to his pack over the past several months.
My wife and I work very long hours and cannot be there for him all day, he has to be outside all day as he has from the first moment he walked into our home that he immediately had to piss on everything inside the house, time and time again every time we let him in, the same thing.
Iāve discussed with my wife about finding him a home with someone who has more time than us and where he could maybe be indoors all day instead of being stuck outside by himself now that his pack has passed. He is the most awesome little Applehead chihuahua with so much love that needs to be with full time humans to love him. If any of our Awesome M&L listeners who love dogs as much as we do and know of anyone in the A.V. California who could give him the attention he craves and needs all day while his humans are gone for so many hours since he has no pack anymore would like to adopt him, Iām open to speak to you. We love our Chewy and donāt want to say goodbye but itās really sad to see him so alone and lost these days.
I hope Iām not stepping out of bounds advertising my chewy. I know this platform has always loved and cherished dogs, I am of that Ilk and loved our dogs so much that we built a dog room with heating and air and a large doggie door to come and go to keep them comfy while we are gone and those ding bat dogs preferred to sit on the back patio on their way to comfy dog beds rather than stay in the climate controlled comfy room. DOGS, go figure.
If anyone has an interest in Chewy, please let me know. I hate to say good bye to him but we are not home enough for him and it sucks that heās living such a solitary life most of his day.
Thanks M&L for all you do.
P.S. Itās so awesome that RED has made it to 13 yrs, pray he gets many more. But when that time comes, please either cook him a great last meal or do In & Out. No McDonaldās for RED, itās not the same food anymore, itās plastic garbage. Yuk.
āMy name is Priva and Iām a filthy pigā. I was just listening to the Dec 5 2012 episode of the two Lake Norman helicopter traffic sisters. Mark then discussed Privaās purse and the months old banana. Too funny, she had to admit to the RG that sheās a pig because he demanded her to admit it.
Mark, you mentioned youād have Priva back on the show, that was 6.5 yrs ago and sheās never been back. Bring Priva back to update us all what sheās doing these days.
I have an old iPad in the cigar room that I listen to all of the original M&L shows that ended soon after the Mark in the morning program. Elvis was still around back then, I remember that pod when he had his McDonaldās cheeseburger before he went to doggie heaven. Iāve had to take 2 of mine to the same place since March. Itās so hard to put them in the car for their last time, a lonely drive but I stopped at McDonaldās for my Rocco in March and got him a cheeseburger right when they started lunch, I also thought Iād get myself one which I have not had in years and sadly it was the worst pile of shit cold rubber garbage Iāve ever had. Rocco gobbled it down as our pups do but I imagine years from now when heās completely gone back to the earth, that fucken cheeseburger will still be in the same condition as it was the day he ate it, shouldāve gone to In & Out.
Many great past shows that keep me laughing and shed a tear from the past pods.
Thanks to you both for all the years of great podcasts, so grateful for all the years of the two of you sharing your normal lives with all of us replaceable but loyal listeners. Lynda, you became a natural by that Dec 5 show and have sounded from the beginning like youāve got as much air time as the H.O.F. Nominee, perhaps when they start doing podcast hall of fame you and the old guy will get first ballot inductions.
Sorry to ramble,
Thanks for all the great years.
Shame on me for not sending this invite to you guys like, months ago BUT besides having been an avid listener for decades (I’m from LA) and an #ROF supporter, I run marketing and sales for the museum of flight in Seattle, WA. Mark, I know you’re into rocketry stuff and we are hosting, through September 2 , a special Smithsonian exhibition featuring the actual Frickin’, Columbia Command Module. Want to invite you guys for a private tour and if you’re planning to be in the Seattle area next weekend (I know, yeah, right), we’re having a huge anniversary party for which we’d comp you VIP tix etc. Anyway, I know this isn’t a typical comment but don’t know any other way to reach out to you since I’m not that important :-). email is below. Cheers, Erika
Greetings Mark and Lynda,
I am in the middle of catching up on your shows. I have one request, could you please do a mash up of the relaxing sounds of your pier with Mark’s snore fest from the night of the Cher concert. It would just be fantastic!
Love the show,

Love your show, listen every day on my way to work just like M&B days.
We saw Journey last year and although it was a good show, Journey is not Journey without Steve Perry.
So at our house we call them “Karaoke Journey”
Keep up the good work!
Semper Fi!
