    Hi Mark,

This is Kathy Beck and I will be 71 on Feb. 7th. Thanks for playing Sheriff John’s birthday song last week, brought back lots of memories growing up in LA! Keep up the good work.

Hey Mark. I’ll be 68 on Feb. 15, and you could toss me a birthday bone, if you like. Mostly I just want to tell you that listening to the Mark and Brian Show when I lived in Southern California from 1988 to 1990 improved my life short- and long-term. At the time I was married with two very young children and pursuing a career in journalism. I didn’t have any say in my husband’s work transfer to a military base in the California desert. I resented having to add two hour-long commutes to my workday to be on staff at a mid-sized newspaper. The commute seemed interminable, especially since I had always lived in fairly lush environs and miles of this drive were across a vast dry lakebed. Listening to the Mark and Brian Show helped me break free of the woe-is-me attitude. It was still emotionally difficult to leave my kids, yet I began looking forward to my morning commutes to work because I would be entertained by the antics of Mark and Brian. The stealthy umbrella broadcast from inside Graceland, and the subsequent “peace offering” of the giant floral Elvis head, had me riveted to my bucket seat. Your example urged me to try my hand at participatory journalism, which is not anything taught in J-School. Reporting stories while circling in a sailplane, suiting up in beekeeping garb to harvest honey from hives, and shearing sheep are among some of my favorite professional memories — and they all occurred during my two years in California. Thanks for your example of how to just have fun!

    Hey Mark,
I turn 68, 2/5 and would love to hear one of your Birthday Bone Tunes!
I love hearing you each Friday. You make my long drive from LA to Menifee much easier to tolerate. Been driving this route 7 years now. Keep up the great work on your podcast! ❤️😄

This message is for rocket Bob. Rocket Bob, can you please see if you can get Lynda Thompson to be on the show things are so crazy right now in this world that we need her voice of reason and soft motherly advice to just calm things down and say hello. I know she doesn’t want to do it, but it would be nice to hear her voice.

    Hi Mark!

I’m so old that I forgot to post my birthday bone request last week! I turned 65 on January 24th. I don’t know how this happened. I’m on Medicare!?! I don’t feel 65! At least I’ll always be younger than you! I listen to many podcasts each week but yours is my favorite! Thank you!
