Use this page to say hey, ask a question (which probably won’t get answered), or just to kiss the RG’s ass.

I have been out of touch for awhile. Can anyone share what were the island questions Mar would ask guests from time to time?

      Candy
      Movie
      Food
One “thing” – like your dog. (I never understood this one… why not just bring a satellite phone so you can be rescued if you want?)
Person for conversation (living or dead)
Person for “naked yum-yum” time (living or dead, current or prime, can’t be current partner)

    Hey RG,

I’ve been a long time listener since the 80’s and have been on this awesome ride with you since then. I’m a few months behind on the show and I’m trying to catch up but I just wanted to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed the shows with Andy and especially Chuck. It was great to hear both of their voices again and that they are both doing great! Oh, and before I forget, congratulations to you and Lynda on the new grand baby! My first grand baby was born last year and we just love her to pieces!
Anyway, I wanted to give a couple of answers to the island questions. Candy bar-Snickers, Food-In N Out Burger, Album-Dark Side of the Moon, Movie-Back to the Future (I don’t know why I love that crap!), it was a toss up for who to talk to. The first person I thought of was you, the RG! I just love hearing your stories like when you as a kid threw rocks at Donnie Osmond and he threw them back! Or, when you sat in the same booth at the diner that Lionel Richie wrote “Easy” in. Awesome stuff! Would love to hear those two again! But I was thinking maybe I should pick someone that I would have a little better chance of surviving on the island like that Professor from Gilligan’s Island! What was his name? Roy Hinkle? For sexual gratification-Cristie Brinkley!

I just wanted to thank you for all that you do! I know this is your passion and that’s why you do it. Not for us SRL’s but for you! And that’s awesome! I’m just glad you are willing to share your passion with us! I truly do miss Lynda on the show. Back in the days when she was the traffic girl, Anita! That was great stuff! And, your kids! They are all awesome in their own way. I miss Katie too, chick on the street. I love her approach to life. She sees things through a different lens than most! Love it! Wish we could hear from her again.
Sorry for the long message but it’s been a while!

Thank you again for being an awesome human!

    Hi RG,
Wow! I feel so honored. I have the Batphone number! I’m going work even harder now to get my time machine working so I can use the number!
Just so you know, a UPS is an uninterruptible power supply. They make them for everything from home computers to bigger things like your studio. I’ve been using one for years for my PC. Besides providing power during outages, they also help keep power levels consistent during power drops and power surges. For computers, they can run anywhere from $50 to several hundred.
And finally, you mentioned who-done-it shows. You should check out an old show called “Ellery Queen” from 1975-76. Usually, on the show, you will see the murder, but not who did it. You watch Ellery (played by Jim Hutton – Timothy’s father) investigate. Just before the end of the episode, he stops and addresses the audience and asks if you’ve figured it out. He mentions some of the clues he’s found. After the commercial break, he returns with all of the suspects in the room, then he names the killer and how all the clues fit in. It was an excellent show with some big name guest stars. Too bad it only lasted one season. It is available on Amazon, according to IMDB.
As always, thank you for always doing what you do.

Mark! Buddy, your a class act, but I never knew how much until you talked about Supertramp’s Breakfast in America!

Supertramp’s Breakfast in America is the album I would have with me on a island if it was the only album I could listen to.

Still after 44 YEARS, I just love it!

    Hoody Hoo!

    Hey RG,
I wanted to thank you for the birthday bone! I was listening to the previous episode and thought, damn he miss me. Well, Sunday, a week after my birthday, I’m traveling to a conference, listening to the show and you said my name and pronounced my last name correctly. It was a great surprise. Thanks again. Been listening to everything you have done since 1998. Keep up the good work!

    Hello there RG!
I absolutely LOVE your show (podcast) especially your interview with Donny Osmond. I’ve wanted to go back and listen to it again, but can’t seem to find it. Can you point me in the direction of where it lives?

Also, what episodes of the Adventures of Mark and Brian do you not have or seen?

    Just another stupid replaceable listener.

For you new Stupid Fucking Listeners, Mark has a tendency to repeat himself like your old Grampa might.
So when he announced he was going to recount his story about Tuskegee and the Torch Truck Stop, well you know the feeling, here goes 10 minutes I’ll never see again.
I got to tell you how wrong I was to prejudge him.
His memory of the ranch, his aunt, the cows and the shock shared by Lionel Richie and then the closing with a heart felt embrace.

I had goose bumps and I started to well up.

I can’t tell you what it was that moved me so much, I continue to try to understand.
Maybe it’s the affirmation of this precious life and how quickly we move through it and those memories that we carry. Could it be the conclusion of two total strangers finding out that they had the very same experience that changed their lives forever. Maybe it’s all of the above.

Or maybe it’s just grandpa babbling on and knowing his time is short…..

Hey Mark, as soon as I saw the title, “Easy Like a Sunday Morning.” I knew you were going to tell the Torch Cafe story. One of my favorites from the book. You mentioned that you didn’t hear much about it. Which surprised me. Maybe others are like me, they know that you know that you are an outstanding storyteller so why bother you with a compliment. I have saved the episode. My sister is going to be in town next month and we will be doing some driving, I will make her listen to it. She’s used to my Mark Thompson fandom! I regularly send her episodes and tell her to listen! 🙂 Thank you for all you do. It makes my Fridays better!

I find it interesting that Mark seems to have a hard-on for news from Florida, especially since he spent most of his professional career in ‘The Land of Fruits & Nuts”, a.k.a., California.

Hey Mark: Thank you for everything you and your family have done to entertain us over the years–question (maybe you’ll answer): do you accept ideas for candidates for “What You Do”? I have an idea for a show with a creative type who is located in LA — 50 year career in as a writer/creator/director of cartoons, comic books, Comic Con. Please contact me if interested…

Just listened to the part about Tom Bergeron calling the 3 stooges, and thought you’d enjoy checking out “Breakfast Time” a morning show that Tom did in 1995 ish….with one of the co hosts being a puppet named Bob.
It was a goofy live morning tv show on fx. Lots of episodes on Youtube….
