I’m no Christian hand but here’s a breakdown of the BeeGees Staying Alive that is just wrong and hilarious. Need you to do your music trivia fact checking and tell me if the ā€œholy fuckā€ was always there or not.

Hey Mark! Longtime listener from 87. I attended many Christmas shows and parking lot shenanigans back in the day. Love the show but that song you use ā€œDown in Floridaā€ has become an ear worm for me. Every time I hear Florida mentioned on the news or in daily conversation I start singing it! Oh well, could be worse I guess. Keep on keeping on brother!

RG, I am grateful that you have archives of the Mark and Lynda show for us SRL’s to wind our way through Monday – Thursday while we wait for WYD on Friday’s.
Is there any chance of a Cool Stories in Music archive? As a musician I thought that was some ground breaking content.

Hi Mark. My apologies in advance if this comment is too long.

I work in an office with the loudest, most annoying woman in the world. For eight hours a day, five days a week, all she does is talk on the phone and bitch about how terrible her life is. She makes $150K a year, and I’ve never seen her do any actual work. And you know what else? She thinks she’s underpaid! She keeps threatening to retire, and I pray to God, Allah, Jesus, Vishnu, and Buddha every night that she follows through with these threats, but when I show up to the office on Monday morning, she still shows up, too.

But here’s what I’m getting at. Every Friday, when I’m trying to do as little as possible to just make it to the weekend, I get a reprieve from this loud, annoying woman thanks to you. I put on my headphones, listen to your podcast, and for the duration of the program, I get a few laughs, and I don’t have to listen to my miserable coworker whine about her miserable life.

So if you ever find yourself wondering, “Why am I doing this podcast,” I can tell you why: you’re doing it for people like me.

At the end of each podcast, you say, “Be mindful of what you do, because it matters.” Well, sir–I want to thank you for what *YOU* do, because it matters, especially to me.

New listener. I just finished episode 2. That Mark Botting sounds just like Dr. Nefarious from Dispicable Me. Hilarious.

I think you were a bit unfair to call Adam Ant a one hit wonder, when prior to his solo career he had several other hits with Adam and the Ants, with songs like Ant Music, Prince Charming, Stand and Deliver, not only in USA and MTV but also UK #1 hits. Do far your list of best cover songs are pretty spot on. But the list you quoted oCheers Tom in Oregon

Some quick Elvis stuff, we e-mailed one before “68” comeback stuff. I attended an Anniversary Show years ago at the Paley Center which was freaking awesome with Steve Binder and Priscilla telling stories, than seeing it actually in the Baz movie. Example, the late night jam sessions in the studio which caught Steve’s ear and a total blessing, history was made. Anyway sorry, all fired up for the new concert film coming out!!! More King!! New footage, theater screen and sound all King. What are the proper expectations during the movie? Can you dance?Sing? lol Or just sit on our ass? Hope you see this, enjoy the show.

    Hi Mark,

Listened to your latest episode this morning on the drive to my dog trainer’s place. Raider, my bundle of energy 8.5 mo old Cavapoo was in the back seat listening along with me. After you read all the birthdays for the week, we listened to the birthday bone/Mister Roger’s song. When the dogs barked and growled at the end of that song, Raider was not happy. He started barking his head off, and really lost it when the dog growled at the end. I was laughing so hard, I almost had to pull over. Thanks for making our day, or at least my day! 🤣

    Hey Mark,
Long time listener and devoted fan. I had to laugh when Lynda shared the news of Walker eating your night guard. I have worked in the dental field for 16 yrs. I’m here to tell you dogs LOVE any mouth appliance we may have.
Over the years I have heard of dentures, retainers, Invisalign and night guards that fall prey to our furry friends. At least Walker left you a small bit of evidence as to what happened. Curious, have you seen any of the leftovers yet?
In our office we always ask if they own a dog. I always go on to explain this could become the most expensive chew toy they have ever purchased.
Good luck with the new night guard. Guard it with your life….. šŸ˜‚
